[UPDATED April 19] When to Expect Your Stimulus Check – and a Second Check?

[UPDATED APRIL 16] Here we are, well into the covid-19 lockdown. If you haven’t received your stimulus check electronically with this batch, it doesn’t mean you’re not going to get it. Make sure you’re set up with the IRS to receive payment.

[UPDATE April 19] Sunday, April 19th, the Coronavirus Task Force held a live press conference. More on that here.

When asked if American’s would receive a second stimulus check next month, President Trump said, “We will let you know when it’s appropriate, but we’re not going to let our people suffer.”

We don’t know exactly what this means, but you can listen to the video below and decide for yourself. It’s at the end of the press conference.

[UPDATE April 16] Deposits started on Friday night, April 10th to 80 million Americans. However, over 170 million may qualify, as IRS announced earlier. We don’t know how long it will take to get to every American.

We don’t know how long it will take to deliver all the payments. The last time a stimulus check was sent out, during the ebola epidemic, it took six weeks to send to everyone who was eligible. This time, however, the IRS is attempting to send to everyone.

Your money will come to you by way of direct deposit or a check in the mail.

How Does the IRS Know Where to Send Your Stimulus Check?

The IRS will deposit your check into the account in which you last received your tax return. If you do not get your tax returns directly deposited, they will send it to the address they have on file for you.

If you don’t have it already, you can set up your account for direct deposit with the IRS.

If you haven’t filed taxes – you can still get a stimulus check – just go here

  1. What if you are collecting food stamps (snap). will people have to report the stimulus check in as income to human services and will this cut out the snap benefits to those that are receiving snap, since all income has to be reported?

  2. what if an adult claims you on their tax return as a dependent. I only ask because I was denied a check due to this fact

    1. Hi Jerry, this is a good question. If you’re claimed as a dependent, unfortunately you will not qualify for the stimulus check. If you are under 17, and claimed as a dependent, the person who claimed you will receive another $500. Hope this helps.
